Privacy Policy
MentalCompute is a mental arithmetic training website at mentalcompute.com. This page explains what information the site uses and how to contact us.
Information we collect
You can train as a guest. We assign a random player identifier and save your sessions, answers, response times, scores, and progress in our database. A secure browser cookie connects your browser to that history.
If you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google sends us an identity token. We verify it and store your Google account's stable identifier, email address, email-verification status, name, and profile-picture URL. We do not receive or store your Google password, and we do not store the identity token after sign-in. Your existing guest practice history is linked to your account when you sign in.
If you choose a display name or opt in to leaderboards or a public profile, we store those settings. Only an opted-in display name and training scores appear on leaderboards; public profiles show the opted-in display name, total XP, and join date. Your Google email and Google name are not displayed in these features.
How we use it
We use this information to authenticate you, preserve your training history, adapt exercises, show progress, prevent duplicate scoring, and operate optional public features. We do not use Google account information for advertising and do not sell personal information.
Cookies, hosting, and sharing
The site uses a session cookie (up to one year) and a CSRF-protection cookie. Browser preferences are saved in local storage. Our web server may record technical request information, including IP addresses and user agents, for operation and security. The application and PostgreSQL database run on our Contabo-hosted server. Google processes information under its own policies when you choose Google sign-in. We do not grant other users access to your private practice history.
Retention and your choices
Practice and account data remain in the active database unless removed following a request. Database backups are kept for approximately 14 days. Signing out revokes the current session but does not erase your training history. You can use the site without Google sign-in, though guest history depends on retaining the browser cookie. You may request access to or deletion of your account and practice data by emailing us. We will confirm the request and explain what can be removed, including the backup-expiry period.
Contact and updates
For privacy questions or data requests, email alberteluna8@gmail.com. We may update this policy as the service changes and will revise the effective date above.
